The story of Pride and Prejudice revolves around Mr. Bennett of Longbourn estate who has five daughters. His property is entailed, meaning that it can only be passed onto a male heir. Since he has five daughters, he does not have any proper inheritance. Thus, it is obvious that one of his daughters will have to marry well to support the rest of the family. This conflict is the main motivation which drives the plot of the story. One of the most loved novels in the history of English literature, Pride and Prejudice explores themes of marriage, especially marriage for love, not for wealth or class.
