Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson is a really great and inspiring book. It’s about Taylor, who usually runs away when there are problems. Soon, the family gets devastating news about their father and their family decides to take a trip to their lake house. This is nerve-racking to Taylor, after all the drama she left behind and thought she could run away from. Now, she must face her fears, no more running away. This is one of my favorite books and it’s also very very touching. There are a few things that I really love. One is how people get second chances to find happiness; it’s like life wants you to succeed. I find that very inspiring and it’s a good feeling. I also like the letters the father makes for each kid so they can read them in the future. One thing I don’t like about the book is how sad it is. It can get people on the verge of tears, it’s like you feel like you are in the story and getting the bad news. Another thing that I don’t love is how weak Taylor is. She doesn’t stand up for herself and thinks she can run away from everything. But it makes sense because some people are like that and when they read this book, they can relate to it. In closing, this is a wonderful and inspiring book, but can be very sad and touching.
