Have you ever gotten a virus? Did you get over it? What if you got a virus that you could not necessarily get over and that there was no known cure for? One that had the potential to infect the entire city? In this novel, titled Code Orange, that is exactly the situation Mitchell (a.k.a Mitty) Johnson Blake, a seemingly ordinary teen living in New York City, is going through. While looking for information to use for his advanced biology paper, Mitty discovers a book on infectious diseases that dates back to the eighteenth century. Although he finds the answers in this particular book necessary for his biology paper, he gets more than he ever bargained for when he finds an envelope tucked in the book with smallpox scabs. Are these scabs infectious? Does Mitty himself have smallpox, one of the most feared infectious diseases in the world? If he doesn't, then why is he getting some its’ symptoms? What will become of Mitty? Or the more important question, what will become of the entire human race? Everything gets even more complicated when Mitty reaches out to others in an attempt to get answers to such questions and the threat of bioterrorism is becoming increasingly apparent. In this fast-paced, suspense-building novel, one learns how life-changing books can really turn out to be. You will not be able to put this book down – trust me on that! For this reason, I would give it a rating of five out of five stars for bringing up an interesting and unique topic, and for being so action-packed.
