Beautifully written, Sidor's use of imagery often reads like poetry. But despite the copious bloodletting, the "evil" borders on cartoonish (I kept picturing the book's antagonist twirling a black moustache while going "Muahahaha!") and the gore is not quite enough to fill in the story's glaring plot holes thus leaving too many unanswered questions and a non-ending that begs for a sequel. Still, it kept me reading til 3am every night.
