"Well we think of life like the seasons. So you're a child until you're 18 and that's spring. And then at some point we all do our Pilgrimage, which is between 18 and 36, and that's summer. And then from, eh - 36 to 54, we're working age, which is *fall*. And then finally from 54 to 72 you become a mentor."
The prep - Kool-Aid:
What does it do?
-Oh, um... It, uh... It breaks down your defenses and opens you for the influence.
===
Here. Here, smell this.
-What is it?
It calms you down.
===
Are you not disturbed by what we just saw?
-Yeah, of course I am. That was really, really shocking. I'm trying to keep an open mind though. That's cultural, you know? We stick our elders in nursing homes. I'm sure they find that disturbing.
===
Welcome to Harga, and happy midsummer! It has been 90 years since our last great feast and it will be 90 years before our next. And what poetry that it's now the hottest and brightest summer on record. We already have so much to give back and so, without any further blathering, let's raise our glasses. Let our Nine-Day feast commence.
===
As Harga takes, so Harga also gives.
===
Now, it's traditional for the May Queen to bless our crops and livestock. And after the luck you just inherited from that salt herring,
I'm doing my research on European midsummer traditions, these guys are just tagging along.
-Mr. Pelle's invited us to an authentic hippie midsummer at his yodeling farm.
===
Yeah, it's sort of a crazy nine-day festival my family's doing. Lots of pageantry... Uh-huh. ...special ceremonies, and dressing up.
===
Why 36?
-Well, we think of life like the seasons. So you're a child until you're 18 and that's Spring. And then at some point, we all do our Pilgrimage which is between 18 and 36. That's Summer, and then from 36 to 54, we're working age, which is Fall. And then finally from 54 to 72 you become a mentor.
-What happens at 72?
===
Oh, my God, the women here. What is it that makes them hotter?
-The Vikings grabbed all the best babes from other countries and dragged them over.
===
Not a lot of privacy.
-Yeah, what do you do when you need to jerk off?

Comment
Add a CommentThe writer/director said he wrote this after he had a break up. It is sad that he used his efforts to produce a disturbing, sadistic and evil horror movie. A warning: Once you have seen it, you cannot remove the images from your head. We spent night after night watching comedies and happy cartoon movies to try to override the awful experience of watching this movie that had no redeeming character or side plots. We lasted till the end thinking there would be a plot change at the finale that would make it palatable. We should never have started the movie. It is not like a horror movie of aliens and monsters. We are talking evil human beings here. Forget culture or pretty scenery, this is sick and there is nothing to learn, or appreciate from it.
i liked the experience of watching this movie it really scratched a specific itch for me but i dont know if it is a good movie its not for everyone but it was a good experience so i would reccomend
Waste of 2 hours. Scenery is the only good thing.
Disturbing, twisted, weird blatent - un-necessary sexual rituals, strange, bizarre waste of time. Don't waste time with this movie. I did NOT like this movie.
lousy movie. not even scary.
I found this movie to actually be disturbing. I think why I find the movie to be disturbing is for the fact this situation could actually exist in reality. The friend that everyone underestimates turns out to be the most dangerous one who plays everyone. The human sacrifices has been known to happen with all different cults and tribes throughout history. Some of the viking traditions. How the highly educated students are so caught up in their own selves that they do not even wonder why their friends that they went on a trip with just started to disappear. Everything about this movie I found actually disturbing as it can really exist and the elders used different plants as drugs. Like have you never heard of a rape drug? This movie is definitely an adult movie and should not be watched by youths or children. This is even the next day after watching the movie and I still find myself disturbed by it and I can watch about anything.
Very distorted. It’s not scary but sickening. If you read comments before watching, be aware that once you watch you cannot un-watch.
For me, this film failed in its execution of being terrifying or even scary. It makes me wonder if it was simply given the horror designation because the film had to be marketed with a genre in mind.
Some will like this, and I can definitely see why, but I suspect this film will leave many horror fans screaming with laughs instead of terror. If a horror film isn't scary, at least be unnerving. I didn't even get that feeling from this film. It utterly fails to build tension or even a sense of rising madness.
Final Verdict: Only watch this if you have a serious desire to do so. Your viewing experience may be enhanced with a group of friends and alcohol. Be warned that this feels like more of a college film class movie than a nail-biter.
This movie is a work of art.
Probably the worst and stupidest movie ever. On a scale of 1 (being the highest) to infinity, this would rank as infinity minus.
Makes the Swedes look like complete backwoods idiots, and the heroine ( a loosely used term) is a complete idiot.
