Broken Throne is a collection of short novels that take place before, during, and after the action of the Red Queen series. The novellas include Queen Song and Steel Scars as well as three brand-new novellas. In addition, the collection also contains a few extras like maps and journal entries. I liked reading Broken Throne because despite how it isn’t actually the fifth book of the series, it catches up readers with the Red Queen characters after the drama of War Storm. It was nice to see short stories of my favorite characters as well as get an actual series ending. I felt that the ending we got from War Storm was only for the book. It didn’t feel like the ending we received holistically wrapped up the series. I love how Broken Throne with its short excerpts actually gives us the ending we deserved. I would recommend Red Queen readers to read Broken Throne because I felt like I actually got an ending from that, although I wished I got to read more from my favorite characters, Broken Throne satisfied me with its ending.
