Amy is a very shy 16 year old who gets frozen and sent off into space. It takes many years to get there so when she arrives she is simply not used to all of the technological advances/ She has a special talent, synesthesia. One day she meets a very mysterious boy at school and he is clearly unusual. I think the best part about this book was all of the characters. Even though it was in space, I felt like this is how me and my friends talk around each other. I really like graphic novel series so I can't wait to keep reading these books by Stephen McCranie! 5/5 stars. - SAPL Read It & Review Contributor

Space Boy follows Amy who grew up in a mining colony deep in space, but is forced to move back to Earth with her family after her father loses his job. Surprisingly this is not tale of an odd girl from space who tries to find her way in a new world, it’s actually the opposite. No one is shocked about Amy claiming to have come from space. If anything, people barely acknowledge it. Though I found that quite odd, the story overall is quite sweet. You see Amy navigate the challenges of moving to a new place (making friends, learning new routines, finding where she fits in in this new world). Early into her time at her new school, Amy becomes enamored with loner Oliver. Every day Oliver seems to be leaving campus and sneaky in a nearby forest. When Amy asks her friends about Oliver, no one seems even know who he is. As a reader, you then feel like you are on a journey to discover who Oliver really is with Amy. These are such quick and easy to read graphics, so if you are looking for a short story to pass some time, I recommend reaching for this one!
