"Uncommon Type" is a book of short stories by the actor Tom Hanks. The common thread in this 'uncommon' work is a typewriter. Every story has a typewriter playing a role. I read the names Olivetti,Underwood, Remington, and so on as a wave of nostalgia coursed through me. I cursed myself for giving away my IBM Selectric and this book is so well written that I just might start going to flea markets to find a deal on an antique typewriter.
