Seventeen-year-old Cassie Hobbes has a gift for profiling people. Her talent has landed her a spot in an elite FBI program for teens with innate crime-solving abilities, and into some harrowing situations. After barely escaping a confrontation with an unbalanced killer obsessed with her mother's murder, Cassie hopes she and the rest of the team can stick to solving cold cases from a distance. But when victims of a brutal new serial killer start turning up, the Naturals are pulled into an active case that strikes too close to home: the killer is a perfect copycat of Dean's incarcerated father-a man he'd do anything to forget. Forced deeper into a murderer's psyche than ever before, will the Naturals be able to outsmart the enigmatic killer's brutal mind games before this copycat twists them into his web for good? With her trademark wit, brilliant plotting, and twists that no one will see coming, Jennifer Lynn Barnes will keep readers on the edge of their seats (and looking over their shoulders) as they race through the pages of this thrilling novel.

When The Naturals, a group of teenagers with unusual capabilities, are yet faced with another case, it’s up to Cassie to help, even though she’s not allowed to work on active cases. Yet there’s still a piece missing in the puzzle when the FBI realizes the potential murderer is locked up. Bodies start piling up as both the FBI and The Naturals don’t have a clue about the person behind all this, but one thing is for sure; his style is the same as Daniel Redding’s. Dean Redding was forced to watch all the women his psychopath father had killed, so tackling this case isn’t something he’s up for. But Cassie Hobbes is, and the FBI’s rules can’t stop her. Working on this case, both Dean and Cassie are equally terrified at how close this case hits home. It’s not everyday your life is put on a line… 9/10 stars.

At times, the plot felt like it was going a little slowly; it wasn’t quite as adrenaline-pumping or suspenseful as the first one. I really liked the twist at the end, and ended up satisfied and eager for the sequel.

This is one of my favorite books now, including The Naturals. It has many twists and turns and is greatly written.

Another serial killer case for the gifted teens in the Naturals program (top-secret, govt funded, etc.). Main character Cassie is recovering from previous case but is sucked into another dangerous situation that involved copycat murders linked to Dean's dad - a jailed psychopath killer. Just the right amount of action; a fun read.
