You've forgiven a thousand times. You've bent over backwards to make your partner feel loved and accepted. But the only reward for your loyalty has been anger, indifference, infidelity, or abuse. Your spouse may even be ready to walk out the door. Do you feel like all is lost? Are you ready to give up? There IS still hope. Dr. James Dobson's "tough love" principles have proven to be uniquely valuable and effective. Unlike most approaches to marriage crisis, the strategy in this groundbreaking classic does not require the willing cooperation of both spouses. Love Must Be Tough offers the guidance that gives you the best chance of rekindling romance, renewing your relationship, and drawing your partner back into your arms.

I am glad to see KCLS offering this book. I own a 1983, Word published copy; worn, reread multiple timed, and won't even lend it out.
There are multiple Pearls of Wisdom you can gain from this book. Today, I referenced Chapter 16 as I was led to revisit Dobson's concept on how to build a relationship and sustain it. Previously, the book offered me direction and hope in a failing(ed) marriage, which I don't know of any book out there quite like this, believe me I searched, and although some suggestions you may want counsel with, overall I give it a 10.

Yes, love must be tough, but this book presents solutions that are more along the lines of manipulative games, placing blame on the 'offender' instead of responsibility for a breakdown of communication or the relationship in general on both parties. It is also incredibly condescending in overall tone. I do not recommend this book for anyone, Christian or otherwise.

during tough times involving marital striffe one party is always wanting to beg, promise, coerce, WHATEVER to keep the other party from leaving. This book shows how wrong that is and the correct way to possibly save your marriage and definetly how to save your dignity. Wise words from Dr. Dobson to help us all keep the ones we love in the tough times. GREAT BOOK!
