Sweet by Emmy Laybourne was a thrill to read from beginning to end. This story is filled with blood, ‘sweet’, and tears (quite literally at times)! The story takes place on a luxury cruise where Solu, a new weight loss product, is being released. However, soon this sweet excursion takes a bitter turn for the worse. Sweet is told through the perspectives of Laurel, a girl who ‘pop rocks’ the guitar, and Tom, a celebrity ‘sweet heart’, as they navigate sticky situations aboard the cruise. This story made me look at body acceptance and appearance with a new, fresh perspective. The only parts that I was not too fond off were some of the unexpected gorier scenes, but otherwise I loved the book. Sweet is ab-Solu-tely a great read! @maroonmouse of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library
