Earth's climate system is fast approaching a crisis. Tim Flannery, bestselling author and one of the most influential scientists on the planet, is here to tell us that catastrophe is not inevitable, but time is running out. Around the world people are already living with the consequences of an altered climate - with intensified or more frequent storms, heat waves, droughts and floods. For some it's already a question of survival.

Although it can get a little heavy with scientific figures (and what they mean), this is one of the most accessible books on the current state of climate change: the science behind it, where we stand technologically, and plausible paths forward. Each chapter is dedicated to a specific aspect of the "Climate Crisis", and is roughly 10-15 pages long. The author packs a lot of punch into each of these chapters without them dragging on for too long.

The book is also written by an Aussie, which is a fresh perspective if you normally look at climate change through an American lens.

A good, concise read.

We gotta get our collective act together quickly on this issue people. Lets get moving!!

An excellently written book that is as persuasive as his previous book on climate change, showing how much we need to do if we are not to completely compromise the well-being of our grandchildren.

Enlightening, encouraging, and exhorting - the author goes systematically through various climate issues, exploring the latest evidence debunking or, more typically, supporting, the concerns. Also contains information on the latest potential technologies that might help us save the planet after all.
