Good read for Santana fans. You get it all, the music, the personal and the spiritual. If you don't come away with a feeling you know the guy it isn't because he doesn't lay it out there for you. Loves Miles and Coltrane and apparently Frank Zappa was not a fan.

At 500-plus pages, don't expect the most cohesive and well-written autobiography by a musical icon. But there is no denying that this is an honest, courageous, and spiritually-charged statement about American music and life as an immigrant in San Francisco's psychedelic 1960s. A must-read for Santana fans and those interested in the history of American rock 'n' roll.

"I'm not Latino, or Spanish; what I am is a child of light. I want this book for people to understand that you don't have to be the Dalai Lama, or the Pope, or Mother Teresa, or Jesus Christ to create blessings and miracles. Keep repeating, 'I am that I am; I am the light.'" -- NPR interview 11-4-14
