This series is such good fun. I love having a window into a life style and culture so different from my own.

A guilty pleasure that enlightens me on the ways the super-rich can find to spend all their money. So glad we got to see a good healthy dose of Astrid's story in this one. She is my favorite character in the trilogy. Looking forward to seeing more of her in the third installment. I do appreciate the point that is made in the book about the lavish spending of the rich. When they buy something, the money often goes into the pockets of hard-working people and helps them to have better lives. Food for thought. Speaking of food -- how are the people in these books able to stay thin?! The food sounds so good!!

Kevin Kwan does it again! So much fun! Be sure to read all the footnotes as you go. They add so much snark to this fun read.

If you loved Crazy Rich Asians, this will be a real treat. Just as nuts as the first book, our couple visit China to find a whole new culture of crazy. Clever candy read - simply delicious!

A fast, fun read. Not quite as strong as the first in the trilogy--I found myself skimming past some parts to get back to the plot--but still thoroughly enjoyed the book.

getting boring with excessive descriptions of crazy rich life styles. Still, I'll read the third book to seek conclusion. The third part of Jan Wong's book Apron Strings also describes the life style of crazy rich Chinese in mainland China. Her book is so much more entertaining and hilarious.

I only picked this book up because I was curious about it after Crazy Rich Asians 1. Boy was I disappointed. It was over the top snobby, pretentious and a lot more name throwing than ever!

Rachel and Nick are still as boring as ever. I still much prefer Astrid over anyone else in this story, just wish she had more scenes and that she had tossed her prick of a husband long long long ago! He is totally not good enough for her, especially when he suddenly became a millionaire and treated Cassian and Astrid so horribly!

So yeah anyways the story is about Rachel finally getting to reach her biological father....the day before her wedding!! Then we barely get to see much father and daughter moments because hey his wife is so scandalized that Rachel, the illegitimate daughter, could possibly ruin her financial and political plans for her husband and son (Carlton, who quite honestly seems like one of the few decent person around once he gets his act together). So Rachel and Nick, who were originally invited to spend the entire summer with her father and his family, is suddenly thrown around and left hanging with some rich snobby Chinese heiress and her cliques, along with Carlton, who is so nice to Rachel. Again, did not like much of the characters except for maybe Carlton.

Kitty's story... it was so so. It does show how pretentious some upper upper society people are in certain parts of Asia and how desperate people are to try and make it into that elusive circle.

There is something definitely missing from this book compared to book 1, it's mostly tabloid fodder material.... nothing truly as shocking as the world that book 1 first introduced us to. So yeah more millions and billions are thrown around in this book but the drama seems slightly toned down and some what predictable

Just as good, if not better, than the first book! However, I am finding myself way more intrigued by Astrid's story than by Nick and Rachel's - I'm hoping there is more of Astrid in book 3.

I enjoyed this installment (2nd) even more than Crazy Rich Asians. Though there was plenty of descriptions of clothes, food, jewelry, private jets and fancy cars, there was a little more on the character side. We get to know Rachel Chu's half brother Carleton and his girlfriend Collette. We also meet Rachel's birth father as well as his wife. Nick's cousin Astrid is dealing with her husband Michael who has been transformed into a monster by being made super-rich thanks to Charlie Wu. I'll be moving on to installment 3. Can't wait to find out the answer to the all-important question. What happens when Shang Su Yi passes on? Who inherits Tyresall Park?

This is the humorous sequel to Crazy Rich Asians. This time, Kwan aims his vicious satire towards the "new money" extravagantly wealthy Chinese mainland families. Once again, level-headed American-born Chinese Rachel proves her worth when she is confronted by powerful rich women of poor character. I'm very much looking forward to reading the next book in this sinfully fun series!
