In 1960s Mississippi, hoardes of young people are coming to Sunny’s town to fight for the African American right to vote. Nothing will ever be the same again, not for Sunny, her family, their town, or even the United States.
Amazing historical fiction book! I went back and forth from paper to audiobook and both were amazingly well done...if you get a chance to listen to the in-between the chapter parts of the audiobook, and also see the visuals in the paper copy, it's totally worth it.
I loved this historical fiction book about the summer of 1964, Freedom Summer. It is a book about friendship, civil rights, family and doing what is right. Plus, it is filled with photographs, nonfiction essays and a compelling story. I'd recommend this book to both adults and young adults. I couldn't put it down.
