great album love the band!! key tracks: hold my hand, love don't die, give it away. I know its the first 3 songs but this album is great!

I'm not sure if I was confusing this band with another piano based one (Ben Folds?) but I wasn't expecting as much. Two songs were big favorites of mine, "Closer to Me" and "Hurricane". Others of note include: "Give it Away", "Break Your Plans", "Wherever this Goes" and "Same as You".

The Fray takes a bold and dangerous step here, trading the emo-pop formula that made them famous for a more upbeat (even funky) style. They're not quite successful. This album's problem is the same as their previous effort, "Scars and Stories": For all their flaws, The Fray were appealing because they wrote songs from the heart. Now they just write songs for the radio. This album all too often feels desperate to be anthemic, rushing through verses towards cookie-cutter choruses. There are moments, however, when the band slows down and, for the first time, sounds like it's actually experimenting. It's moments like those - surprisingly fun, surprisingly interesting - that keep you listening. This isn't a particularly great album, but it could have been a lot worse.
