Mr. Henry Nobley: "Perhaps I don't find the conversation of women to be...stimulating."
[Nobley takes a shot]
Ms. Jane Hayes/Erstwhile: "Oh, I can't imagine why you're still single."
Mr. Henry Nobley: "I don't see a ring on your finger."
Captain George East: [objects] "Nobley!"
Ms. Jane Hayes/Erstwhile: [to Capt. East] "No. No. It's alright. I...I asked for it."
Ms. Jane Hayes/Erstwhile: [to Mr. Nobley] "I'm single because apparently the ONLY good men are fictional."
Colonel Andrews: "Touche'."
Mr. Henry Nobley: "Oh. You think there's any good women out there? [huffs] No. No. No. They profess honesty and fidelity...and while you're away lecturing in Switzerland, they run off to Brazil with your mate."
Ms. Elizabeth Charming: [yells at Nobley] "Get on with the game you old windbag!"
[Nobley takes another forceful shot]

A contemporary retelling of Pride and Prejudice based loosely on the book Austenland. The movie brings to book to life, but with extra visual comedy tossed in. Try counting the taxidermied animals.
I am a Janeite and if you are coming at it from that angle, let me just warn you, you will be disappointed. Approach this movie with an open mind. Expect a modern romantic comedy, not a period drama. The book was way better than the movie. The movie is pretty cheesy and weird in some parts. Funny, however.
I loved this film. I am not at all familiar with Jane Austen. I have not read her books at all- but after seeing this film I plan to! This is a comedy... Romantic comedy, situational comedy, physical humor, linguistic humor. I loved the story line. I want to buy this film for my own collection. And I am super picky about what I buy for dvds.
Keri Russell is spot-on perfect for this role. If you're not very familiar with (or a fan of) the works of Jane Austen, you might find this a bit air-headed, but I adore this movie.
Agreeing with previous comments, it is pretty cheesy. But if you are an Austenite, this is a good ending guaranteed kind of movie and pretty funny!
I know this is a bit cheesy, and like a mixture of Nanny McPhee and The Princess Bride— but that doesn't matter! It was fun, funny, and charming. I loved it!
I loved this movie and have watched it more then once. Yes, it is cheesy, a chick flick and predictable- but light hearted and fun!
I found it pleasing with somewhat low key humour and very few errors or annoyances that can be so common in most films.
Interesting idea (to someone who loves Austen), but poorly executed. My biggest complaint is about the situations of sexual misconduct, assault, and harassment and how they were dealt with: covered up, ignored, and given "happy endings." Not at all acceptable.
