A book that should be on everyone's list. Very informative, well written. I was dismayed to learn that my most expensive cosmetics, as well as name brands I thought I could trust, were potentially the most harmful to my health and that of my family and the environment. Great information regarding the Environmental Working Group and their website "Skin Deep" where you can find out how harmful your soap, shampoo, and cosmetics are. Many healthier alternatives suggested for your body from head to toe. Also great info on what ingredients to avoid in "Label reading 101". Definitely worth reading and/or having a copy of your own.

A Canadian, current, wake up call! Also check out Slow Duck By Rubber Duck and the documentary called 'Chemerical'.

This book focuses on natural body and hair care products that you can buy (in the States, at least) but there are also some recipes for making your own such products.

Deacon helps you identify the dangerous ingredients in all types of body-care products, and recommends the best alternatives.
