An interesting peak at the behind-the-scenes of baseball in the early 2000s. Overall entertaining.

What a great baseball movie. Brad Pitt did a really good job with his role.

Moneyball is a movie which has Brad Pitt as a lead role of Billy Beane, he is a general manager of the Oakland A’s. this movie is a sports type movie about baseball. It starts with Billy having to face a tight budget to run his team, and his mission is in a way to reinvent the team by joining forces with higher Ivy League graduate Peter Brand who is played by Jonah Hill. He recruits players who have been either kicked out or known as “flawed” but at the same time have great potential that can help the team. I rate this movie a 3.5 out of 5. @BirdieBooks of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library

I like this film because it shows you when you get lemons, make lemonade. And I’m all in when it sayes ‘based on a true story’ that bring to light something I probably know nothing about. And how much sporting politics is just about as important as the game. I liked when they would show real clips of real games and people. Brad Pitt gets better with each film.

A pioneering general manager in the cutthroat world of baseball is lambasted by the naysayers as he takes a bold step trying to even the score with the richer teams. A novel approach thanks to his number-crunching sidekick means a smarter, more sophisticated way of identifying talent and horsetrading players to piece together a winning team. The underlying moral of the story is that the world is too quick to write off a person who doesn't fit the mold and it takes someone truly unique to see the diamond in the rough. Pull up a seat, break out the popcorn and "just enjoy the show".

Since we're in the middle of baseball season, you might not be able to tear yourself away from the games to watch this, but put it on your 'to watch' list! A bittersweet movie about how the manager of the Oakland A's used a new system of baseball statistics - dubbed sabermetrics - to create an affordable yet winning team. There's a local tie-in that makes the movie even more fun for Lawrencians to watch.

Peter Brand: The Visalia Oaks and our 240 lb catcher Jeremy Brown, who as you know, scared to run to second base. This was in a game six weeks ago. This guy is going to start him off with a fastball. Jeremy's going to take him to deep center. Here's what's really interesting, because Jeremy's gonna do what he never does. He's gonna go for it. He's gonna around first and he's gonna go for it. Okay?

[On the video, Jeremy trips and falls over first base]

Peter Brand: This is all Jeremy's nightmares coming to life.

Billy Beane: Awwww, they're laughing at him.

Peter Brand: And Jeremy's about to find out why. Jeremy's about to realize that the ball went 60 feet over the fence. He hit a home run and didn't even realize it.
