I read the book awhile ago but came across the film more recently. I remembered it being a book I liked and kept over the years...book was better than the movie.

Beautifully acted. What I enjoy about the international films is the scenery and learning about a different culture. And IT'S NOT a Hollywood production.

A classic, set in Japan before and during WW II in which the richness of the of the Japanese bourgeoisie is contrasted with the pettiness and poverty of their emotional lives. The film is beautiful to watch.

An excellent film. Beautifully shot, intelligently scripted, well acted, and masterfully directed by Kon Ichikawa. One critic has called this film the "Gone With The Wind" of Japan. I wouldn't go that far, but this film is well worth watching. Highly Recommended.
