Good compilation of live Soundgarden songs. I unfortunately never saw them live, but I did hear them live once. I was living on lower Queen Ann and Soundgarden was playing at Bumbershoot that summer. Just opened the screen door, sat on the couch and enjoyed! This compilation is like that, sit on your couch and enjoy. I wanted to borrow a Soundgarden CD since the recent passing of Chris Cornell. Chris and the rest of the band were quite the powerhouse musically and this CD captures their live sound. I was surprised when I heard his solo albums – his vocals were softer, more controlled. I always remember him as screaming out the lyrics. This CD has most of their hits; “Spoonman,” “Outshined,” “Fell On Black Days,” “Black Hole Sun,” and “Rusty Cage” which Cornell dedicates to “the man in black” referring to Johnny Cash of course, who did a brilliant cover of the song on his 1996 album Unchained (you can find his version on youtube.com). Chris Cornell passed away far too early, but his music is eternal - give it another listen.
I love, love, love Chris Cornell so I'll listen to anything he had anything to do with. Not my favourite of all time, but it was good to hear these songs again. Would dearly like to see them live myself one day.
Expected an intense audio attack. But this lacks the punch. OK, but not great.
