A really well written book that does a great job of identifying the most commonly euphemized categories, describing how they have changed overtime, including how some euphemisms became accepted as the proper word, and when some of them came back into style. And I didn't get bored once.

A fabulously smart and entertaining look at why we substitute softer words for what we consider taboo subject matter. A great look at the history of euphemisms and what they can indicate about what the society valued and feared. For example, before the Victorians era 'apricots' were actually called 'apricocks'. Highly recommend this book!

If any of these euphemisms are NOT related to sex and swearing, I didn't get that far.
