This was much shorter than I expected (it was a friend's recommendation). I liked it! A short but entertaining detective book. I think it would be perfect for vacation.
This quick and fanciful mystery was a good summer gap read i.e., a book to plough through between more serious novels and non fiction. I have no argument with the structure of the mystery although if began to feel a bit contrived about mid way through. The best part of the book was the short section that occurs when Tess Monahagn, our hero, lives through the time when her new daughter struggles to survive in the neonatal intensive care unit. Now that might have made a really good book!
Originally a serial in the New York Times magazine. A take off on "Rear Window"
