Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolution is a turn based strategy game; prior to starting the game the player can choose in between 16 historical leaders to play as. The player starts off in the year 4000 BC with a lone settler; the settler can be used to form cities. Early in the game; the player will encounter many barbarian villages, either hostile or friendly. Throughout the game, the player can build more buildings in each city to increase productivity of the city, military units can be trained for offense or defense purposes and technologies can be researched allowing for the advancement of the civilization. In the end, each civilization competes for more land and resources. There are four different ways the game can be won, these are the domination victory, where the player must capture the capital city of each civilization and hold them for one round, the culture victory, the player must obtain 20 great persons and build the United Nations wonder, the economic victory, where the player must accumulate 20,000 gold and build the World Bank, or the technological victory, where the player must research all technologies needed to build a space ship and be the first civilization to reach Alpha Centauri. Additionally, the game features multiplayer support. Personally, I enjoyed the game, the game is very easy to get a hang of and the controls for the game have been adapted very well, allowing for smooth game play. The game has a huge replay value with endless hours of entertainment. The game is also highly addicting. The title “Civilization Revolution” is not very symbolic of anything and is instead very literal, because the game itself is literally about the strategic revolution of civilizations as imagined by Sid Meier himself.
