A lost wallet opens the door to Georges and Marguerite's romantic adventure. After examining the ID of its owner, it is not a simple matter for Georges to turn the wallet he has found into the police. Nor can Marguerite retrieve her wallet without being piqued with curiosity about the person who found it. As George and Marguerite navigate the social protocols of giving and acknowledging thanks, turbulence enters their everyday lives.

This was the most annoying, frustrating film I've seen in a long time, with annoying, frustrating characters engaging in ridiculously annoying dialogue. Did I mention how annoying this film is? I couldn't finish watching it.

Alain Resnais makes movies about ideas, sometimes great ideas. His first three pictures, Hiroshima, Mon Amour; Last Year at Marienbad; and La Guerre est Finie are all considered to be masterpieces. If he had made no more films, he would still be on the list of the great modern French filmmakers. But he continued to make films into his late eighties, when he made Wild Grass, which has very little action or real plot. But you have been in these situations before, where you plan out how you are going to talk to someone, but it does not come out as expected. Resnais can make any kind of movie he wants. If you don’t like them, that is your prerogative.

I find it hard to believe that this film won all those awards...but then France does love Jerry Lewis humor. Don't bother with this movie...read a book or even a trashy celebrity magazine...it would be time better spent.

An oddball story of love and compulsion. The cinematography is very good, but the story line wanders and the ending(s) are confusing. // If you need straightforward plot development and a tidy conclusion, you'll be frustrated by this one. // If you enjoy "What really happened here?" films, you might enjoy it.

Did not like it. The story was not real to me, sort of ridiculous.
