The plot has too many holes and reaches and some of the performances fall flat, but there is something about this undemanding crime caper that keeps you watching and smiling just the same. Maybe it’s the lush Oscar-nominated musical score by Henry Mancini, or the glittering Paris backdrops, or maybe the whole production is just riding on the sheer star power of its two leads? Despite a few rather operatic murders, a bit of mild suspense, and George Kennedy’s hammy performance as a growling one-armed thug, "Charade" is essentially a contrived May-December romantic comedy with Hepburn and Grant not quite convincing enough to suspend disbelief. But they’re pretty to look at (those Givenchy fashions!) and Charles Lang’s opulent cinematography cashes in on snow-capped alps and twinkling Parisian boulevards. Perhaps it’s fitting then that the film reaches its climax in an ornate theatre all done up in red and gold—bet devoid of any audience. Great opening credits sequence though.

Oh what a movie! Enjoyable, thrilling, oh the
fashion back then, everyone looked good-
even the bad guys! Such a good movie resulted
in actually buying our own copy.

The best Hitchcock movie that Hitchcock never made. Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant are prefect together. Needlessly and poorly remade in 2002 as "The Truth About Charlie."
"You know what's wrong with you?"
"No, what?"
"Nothing."

I remembered this snappy film as a kid.
Opened my eyes how loot was laundered.

To my mind, Cary Grant's best picture, with great chemistry between Hepburn and Grant!

A terrific, incredibly entertaining movie in the tradition of Hitchcock, but NOT directed by Hitchcock. (It is called "the best Hitchcock movie that Hitchcock never made".) Its twists and turns will keep you guessing and rivet you from beginning to end. But in addition to being a thriller, it is also very funny and romantic. The screenplay, cinematography, direction, and music are excellent, and all of the performances are wonderful, especially, of course, Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn.

To capture my longstanding Love for Audrey. This is one of my Favs from her.....She at age 34, and that suave guy named Carey at 59*** Can't wait to be that age. June 2015 at age *53, Moore's age in " For Your Eyes Only ".

Everyone else that has commented says it all, Its a great film the remakes don't compare. Also a cameo was made by the screenwriter Peter Stone, dubbed with the voice of the director Stanley Donlen. the scene in the elevator about the two men talking about poker. While the scene later in the film with the Marine in the Park is Dubbed the voice of Peter Stone.
