What does it mean to truly live your values? And how much effort does it take to be a "good" person? Catherine Keener brilliantly portrays an upwardly mobile New Yorker with a troubled conscience: she and her husband depend for their success on the losses of others. Rather than make substantive changes in her life, Keener obsesses over her teen daughter's obscenely expensive jeans, and makes extravagant gesture such as offering her leftover dinner to the first black man she sees. Similar to "Friends With Money" in its mordant observations of upper class hypocrisy.

intriguing story of confused families, unnecessarily sexually graphic, funny bits, inexplicable title, .

slow and somewhat self-indulgent, didn't finish it. Maybe it got better... beautiful acting, but the story goes nowhere....

Painfully awkward to watch. Should be in drama category instead of comedy.

A pleasant, not terribly consequential movie about people?some caring, some superficial?trying to feel OK. Rebecca Hall is delicate and lovely.

I thought that this movie was very good. I found the characters to be believable in their roles of flawed people. The portrayal of the grandmother was realistic and funny because it showed how people of that age have no problem with saying what they think much to the discomfort of those around them. Too funny!

This movie is touted as being hilarious but I just found it sad. Maybe I wasn't in the right frame of mine but death, insults, and the plight of the disadvantaged just isn't funny to me.

Spoiled bratty kids (abby) who insist on $235 jeans, and calls her mother a b**ch. Disrespectful (adult) grandchildren (Mary), cheating husbands (Alex), guilt ridden, paranoid mom (Kate) - apparently because they're so well off and own a lucritive business. I just didn't get the point of this movie. The one nice thing about it was the blossoming relationship between the other grandchild (Rebecca) radiology tech and the computer tech (Eugene)- which is what gave it such a high score from me. :O

An oh-so-New-York-middle-class slice of life managed to balance the usual cynicism & bittness with unexpected humanity & humor. Stylish directing & cool performances by pretty much the entire cast. Loved it. See it.

Abby: And now we're two people walking around with shit in a bag. I mean... I mean, what if we didn't have dogs with us, and we were doing that? That would be disgusting. But, because we have dogs, it's normal.
