My 6 year old boy loved this story which follows the life of a wolf born with a misshapen paw who is exiled at birth and raised by a bear. Sadly, the bear mother dies in the story but the wolf carries on to find his wolf community. The wolf, bear and owl world views seem to imitate Native American spirituality which was interesting. The story also had a strong female/ mother perspective talking about the wolf and bear mothers' deep feelings about the wolf pup at length which I found very touching and refreshing.
