Interesting premise, especially with the information given in the season finale. Great cast (Mahershala Ali and Laura Allen are favourites of mine). Looking forward to watching the next three seasons and then reading the two books that complete the plot line (WELCOME TO PROMISE CITY and PROMISES BROKEN - if I can find Audio versions of them). I'm giving this first season a 7.8 (good with potential) out of 10. [SciFi Mystery]

Season 1 makes a good start for a sci-fi series -- shows promise for concept development & story growth. Then Season 2 turns soapy and Season 3 confirms that The 4400 is a soap opera pretending to be sci-fi. Had this aired at the same time as the original V series broadcast in the 1980s it would have had a hard time competing. ***BRING BACK FIREFLY!!!***

I can't wait to see the rest of the 3 seasons. Too bad it was only a 4 season show.

Great premise and some solid, compelling characters. This series got cancelled after 4 seasons, so you get left hanging at the end of the series, just so you know in advance. I really think they could have sold this to another network. The main problem with the series is the side stories, which deviate too much from the main idea of the series. They formatted it very similar to the x-files in that side-stories are thrown in to the main storyline, which in the case of the x-files was the aliens, and some of the side-stories are kind of mediocre and don't really progress the main idea of the series along. This made the series somewhat disjointed, which isn't too bad watching entire seasons on disk, but when you're watching one episode a week, you kind of get unhooked from the hitch and they lost some viewers. Overall I think it's a solid sci-fi show, and recommend it, despite any shortcomings. There also have been 2 books written which continue and end the series after the last season of the tv show if you're dying for an ending. Welcome to Promise City and Promises Broken are the titles of the 2 books. The library consortium has both of them.
