I am used to art-house films but have to admit I find this film 'boring'. The use of hand-held camera, which results in grainy images, does not help either. The story is about a teenage boy in Rwanda trying to track down his parents' killer (during the genocide period) to seek revenge. The film appears amateurish throughout. The only redeeming value is a glimpse into the life of present-day Rwanda - if that interests you.

I found this movie too slow. The actors were regular people and it shows in spots. Plot was ok.

This is a slow story, but feels very natural and local, like an insider's tale. Lots of silences filled by African music while people walked or waited for their jerry can to fill up at the fountain allow for the slow but deep personal changes which occur to the two leads. The viewer - this viewer at least - learns much about real life in rural and poor Africa. Take off your shoes, roll up your pant legs and hoe this fertile ground.

This movie demonstrates family relationships in Rwanda, consequences of the genocide and continuing distrust, beautiful dance, farming, a powerful and melodic poem (and as a rule, I don't like poetry), and friendship betrayed. Definitely worth watching. You will have to read the subtitles, but you won't regret this film.
