This is an abridged version of the book and as I like to read the companion book as well, this CD version of 8 discs was not what I was looking for. I didn't realize it was abridged when I ordered it. A lot of detail has been eliminated which is fine if that's what you want.

30 CDs on Audiobook- and worth every minute.

I love a good epic, and Rutherfurd sure has delivered. This novel covers the history of New York from the natives in canoes down the Hudson River to the fall of the World Trade Center. Several families are followed along the way, and the intertwining of them all makes the epic fascinating to follow. It's amazing how much a reader learns about history, the arts, political science, and just about everything else by having it put into a historical fiction piece such as this. The author is one heck of a storyteller. For anyone who loves epics, you will love this and Rutherford’s other historical fiction such as London and Sarum.
