this is the third of this series I have read, very disappointing. From the overly sentimental Roy Grace re his new woman to the overly brutal depiction of rape and violence really not a good book. Maybe time for me to move on from police procedurals.....real life is brutal enough...

(The sixth book in the Roy Grace series)

A brutal rapist with an MO of using designer shoes to rape his victims, 2-3 main suspects, and a good twist at the end. This is a page turner most of the time but James' novel could easily have been 50 pages shorter. Very short chapters as the author jumps back and forth 12 years to a similar case that eventually gets solved.
There is a good solid pace to the story as well as a tension that keeps the reader engaged right to the thrilling ending. Worth reading and I will be continuing on with more Grace novels.

Entertaining book in the Roy Grace series

Did not like the way this book jumps from past to present with 2 parallel stories at the same time. Hard to follow.

Takes place in the present interspersed with flashbacks.

Well written and suspenseful, but it bounces back and forth between present and 1997-8, which I find irritating.

Good but not as enjoyable as some of his previous books.
