A novel of love and political drama during the formation of the Irish Republican Army in the early 1900's.

A story about a young woman who lived during Ireland's Revolution. It is historical-fiction and I love how it explained the conflict between England and Ireland. This book also explains how Northern Ireland came to be by the author, who is from there, and now teaches in the U.S. Wonderful story that also explains many years of conflict. Highly recommended!

This book was a quick read. While it is fiction it is written in a time of historical significance for Ireland and their constant search for independence. There is a little romance thrown in if you like that sort of thing but the heroine of the story is a strong Irish woman who copes with the tragedies and trials thrown her direction in an honest way. I've recommended this book to others as I do think it is a good read.

Pretty good, but not great.

I recommended this purchase to the library and was very happy when the book arrived! We meet a strong female protagonist in Eileen O'Neill. She is torn in her loyalty to two men she loves who are on opposing sides during the Irish war of Indepence during the early 1900's. Love, war, sickness, death and salvation; what more could a great storyline need!?
