Since I was born and raised in Montreal it was amazing to find out about a place I have never been to or heard of - especially since I am half irish.

No surprises about the way people lived but a reminder of how strong my Irish genes are and how proud I am to be Irish..

A fascinating read. Very disturbing at times to read how to read how people lived, worked and were treated in the early days of Canada. The Irish immigrants really did help to shape Canada and have little credit to that-this book covers it well.
