OK, but not up to the (high) standard of the Hawkenlye series

England after William the Conqueror's reign. Young girl and friend and acquaintance go in search of a magical crown. The finding of the crown is followed by a murder of the acquaintance. The friend is accursed of the murderer. Events play out.

Good writer. She keeps me reading! Good details of the times. I would read more of her books.
