This movie is dated by time but we still liked it a lot. Any movie Sidney is in is good.

This is a 1970 detective drama---a sequel to 1967's "In the Heat of the Night."
Although it stars Sidney Poitier, the story has a lot of red herrings.
It seems quite slow-paced without many exciting and fascinating scenes.
I almost quit viewing in the middle of the film because I felt sleepy.

Disturbing to see how acceptable it was by society at the time of making this movie that there was a long scene of a 180lb adult man slapping a 60lb boy repeatedly across the face. "Don't make me hit you again.'' This certainly should have been another "slap heard around the world" as the slap in "In the Heat of the Night" is referred to.

Sidney Poitier, in his prime, reprises his Mr. Tibbs role in this murder mystery. This time the scene is San Francisco. This is a well-paced mystery with the addition of some home life scenes with his wife and kids. Nice supporting roles played by Martin Landau, Anthony Zerbe, Ed Asner, and Barbara McNair and background music by Quincy Jones. At the time, Poitier was the only major African-American actor to play starring roles in "serious" movies.
