"Original, funny, poignant, irresistible ... not since Anthony Trollope has foxhunting been so vividly novelized." - Kirkus Reviews (starred)

Financial scandals in Foxhunting society? You bet! The Hounds and the Fury brings back feisty Master of the Hunt Sister Jane, and her hilarious cast of misfits: Jane's handsome and fiscally brilliant boyfriend, and a rich former donor who thinks he can outclass Sister Jane when he purchases his own hounds. There's a sizable sum of money missing, and Sister Jane is on the trail. Of course, she has help from the hounds, birds, dogs and cats who discuss human intrigues among themselves. But finding the money isn't terribly rewarding, since it comes with a corpse!

If you love mysteries, animals, strong women, and are curious about foxhunting, I recommend any of Ms. Brown's foxhunting mysteries. Being involved with and deeply knowledgeable about foxhunting in her real life, the author educates us all about it in the most pleasant of ways. Her sharp-as-a-tack septuagenarian heroine is a delight. Expert on many things, deeply dug in to hunt country society, and full of practical country lore, nothing phases her, even murder.

I always enjoy a book that educates as well as entertains, and this one definitely does both.
