I was not sure where this book was going, even though there were times I guessed - and guessed wrong. The writing is quirky and easily read. The two main characters seem to have the same goal and go about their campaigns in similar ways. Sam Bokarie has left a bloody past in Africa to seek asylum in Canada and settles in the upper Ottawa valley. There he meets Ursula Thickson whose aim in life is to be chosen. She enlists Bokarie to help her get elected as an MP and takes him to parliament with her. They each have their own agenda and you think you know how the story will turn out, but the twist at the end is an interesting one.
