Moon is a toyshop dog who loves all of the toys but is most devoted to Star, the little china cat. When Star is sold on Christmas Eve, Moon is terribly distraught and follows her to her new home. Watching carefully, he sees a small boy opening his gifts, including the box that contains Star.

The boy's delight at his new gift quickly changes to disappointment when he realizes the cat doesn't "do" anything, and he smashes Star's delicate form. Devastated, Moon retrieves the box of his shattered friend and gently carries her pieces home.

What follows is a both a miraculous and wondrous story that will make its readers believe in the power of friendship and the strength of love. A bestseller in hardcover, this traditional tale will re-inspire in paperback.

Moon is a dog with a moon shape over one eye who loves a little porcelain cat with a star shape over her face. For Christmas all Moon wants is the little cat and he is sure he will get it because that is all he wants! When the cat is sold to a lady for an ungrateful little boy who cannot see the beauty in Star, Moon is heart broken. He is horrified when he arrives at their house in time to see the boy smash the little cat. With tears in his eyes, Moon finds the discarded pieces and falls asleep in the snow. What miracle happens next will satisfy any hopeless romantic at Christmas!
