I liked this spy thriller CD. The violence is subtle but present. There is explicit nudity. It is too graphic for children. The sexual aspects are subtle and present too. Le Carré, John did a great job with the script writing this story. The script has lots of surprises to keep you interested. You may feel some sympathy for the characters in the story like I did. I like John as an author. A biography about him I watched said he was actually a spy in his life. According to the biography his scripts are based on facts with the fake names of people and places. It is supposed to represent what it is really like to be a spy.

Terrific movie- unfortunately, the aspect ratio is not the best, and the audio is poor.

It is an unalloyed pleasure watching Alec Guinness inhabit this role. His subtlety, his timing, his un-showy mastery of film acting are all in force, and one can happily sit back for the hours it takes to get through this series, without a qualm. Would that the series itself was as happily uncomplicated. In fact, it is only the presence of Sir Alec (and a stellar bit by the extraordinary Beryl Reid) that diverts one’s attention from the fact that this the most heavily-plotted, contrived bit of flotsam that ever issued from someone other than Agatha Christie. Really, the whole thing bears no scrutiny whatsoever. In retrospect, it is absolutely silly. However….it does hold your attention, and even though it is a guilty pleasure, it is worth your time just to fully savor a master actor at his very peak.

Terrible sound quality! Only heard every third word and no subtitles available. Finally gave up. Apparently a 2002 DVD. Seriously? Desperately in need of re-issue this time with modern sound technology. Why are the English so very bad at sound, one wonders?

Loved it, great sequel. Nice to see something that appeals to the intellect and not LCDs who want explosions

George Smiley and Karla meet again. Alex Guinness and patrick Strewart reprise their roles to make this a great series.
