Very interesting piece of fiction tied to the reality of the apparition of Our Lady, Mother of God to the three children in Portugal. Was also privileged to visit the site Isla de Corva in Portugal. It remains much like it was in 1917 when the apparitions occurred. A large empty space. Crowded only on the 13th of the month when the devotions to Our Lady are held. Millions visit the site every year. Of course there are buildings and streets etc. today; around all built after the apparition, but not as busy and crowded as Lourdes and Guadeloupe at least on the day we visited, about 10 years ago.
I was surprised at the amount of effort put in by the fictitious individuals to be elected Pope and usurp Power of the church. This included murder and bullying even those at very high levels- cardinals. But in the end truth prevails. In many ways though fiction by Steve Berry the church I believe needs to remove celibacy from the restrictions on its clergy. This was imposed by Pope's in the mid 1500's.
