Slow moving, working class families, dark, depressing, relevate, someone filled with quilt, dysfunction, hits home for some - good acting..........

A rich and powerful masterpiece starring Academy Award winner Casey Affleck as a working-class man overpowered by love and loss. Skip this movie if you have the attention span of a gnat.

What was the point of this film? It literally tries to portray what it's like in real life for someone dealing with the death of their brother, but fails in any way to be realistic, which it believes it is. Don't waste your time with this debby-downer that has no conclusive ending. This is a waste of time, money and effort although the music was fantastic!

Written and directed by Kenneth Lonergan in 2016, this American drama depicts the tragic death and its aftermath.
Although the performances of the major actors appear great, the film seems too downbeat and too slow-paced.
I just don't like this kind of bleak film.

a vulgar man responds to an assortment of existential problems in, not unexpectedly, a vulgar manner, all testosterone and no intelligence, brawn instead of intellect, in a community that isn't much more courteous than he is, but cowed rather by him, it's not pretty - a million dollar production, however, cinematography, acting, etc., everything except for the confusing editing, about a two-bit, unedifying, uninspiring man - don't bother

Slow, the music sucks, and Casey Affleck sleepwalks through the entire film.
He does not offer the intensity and suffering that the story demands.
Because of which I never felt a connection with the enormous loss and burdens he must carry.
It was a decent movie that felt like a lost opportunity.

I wanted to like this movie, I really did. And trust me, there were scenes were I was really into it! At the same time, I simply did not like Casey Affleck's character. He was just so afflicted at all times and it made the role feel slightly overdone.

" Masterfully told and beautifully acted, Manchester By The Sea is a shattering yet graceful elegy of loss and grief. "- Phil De Semlyen

This movie should have won the Oscar for Best Picture. It's an original film that I found to be truly affecting, something that is quite rare in such a cynical society. The performances were outstanding all around, and the direction is purposeful and quite masterly.
This film might not be for everyone as it demands some patience and empathy from the audience.

Ever so slightly overrated but if you lower your expectations it is a worthy watch.

Why can't you stay?

If there was... If you could take one guy to an island with you and you knew you'd be safe 'cause he was the best man, he was going to figure out how to survive, he was going to make everything,
