“Question: What would you say to someone who is troubled or anxious?" Alex: "If they are, I would just say, 'Ask God for help.'" From the Question and Answer section, page 214, 2010 edition.
Alex Malarkey's life came to an abrupt change on November 14, 2004, when, in a car accident with his dad, Alex visited heaven. Stories are here of angels--and demons--and also about meeting God. Alex says, "God is my Daddy in heaven, and He understands me all the time. That's how He feels about all His children" (p. 145, 2010 edition). This bestselling book includes photos, an Afterward, a Question and Answer section with Alex, and a helpful Scripture Index. One of the best reads for believers and skeptics alike in recent years, it's not to be confused with "Heaven is For Real," another good, true story about a boy (Colton) who visited heaven. Also available in the library system in large-print, e-book and audiobook editions, as well as on DVD.
Comment
Add a CommentLong story short, a boy who was in a horrific traffic accident made up a story about going to heaven for attention, and his father wrote a best-selling book about it. Years later, the boy admits it, saying: "people have profited from lies, and continue to. They should read the Bible, which is enough. The Bible is the only source of truth. Anything written by man cannot be infallible." But it seems his father has squandered the money from the book, and the boy struggles to get needed surgery. Now, that's a story that needs to be told. As far as helping people to believe in the Lord -- eh.
I am disgusted that this boy would lie about going to heaven.
busted!

I heard this book was revoked. I remember reading it and thought it was a little bit non exciting. Colton Burpo's childhood experience was more engaging.
Dear LRS1969
malarkey>speech or writing designed to obscure, mislead, or impress; bunkum.
lies, exaggeration, nonsense,
rubbish. "the claims were just a lot of malarkey"
I was HIGHLY skeptical of this book when it first came out... Simply because these types of NDE books that promote a specific religion just don't fit the experiences of real life NDE subjects. Those who experience NDEs for real quickly understand that people of all faiths - and no faith - pass on to a positive Afterlife. And that people of all religions, denominations, sects, and seven atheists have NDEs.
But in this case the "co-author" and supposed NDE subject has recanted his story, saying that it simply was ALL a LIE, a fully manufactured story.
It is clear that the real author, the co-author father, a "Christian" therapist, had a personal agenda to follow (one promoting the Christian religion)... and GREED!

The ClevNet system should do likewise and PULL their copies of this book (and movie DVD)!!!

While skeptical, I still had an interest in reading this book.
After reading the story is not true in this article and the publisher has pulled the book, I definitely won't be wasting my time.

A real powerful book about a boy who had a NDE. I love hearing about what a child experienced while on the other side!
I had to cry when his first spoken word after the accident was "Mom". This was truly a book that I recommend everybody to read. I guarantee that you will either follow or re-establish a relationship with God. After reading this miraculous book, I have re-established my faith in the lord.
