The soundtrack is old and without subtitles, very hard to understand, so we quit.

Michael Douglas is nasty. Charlie Sheen is vapid...he looks completely lost in this role. It's an OK movie but I don't see why it was so big back in the 1980's.

VPL, fix your naming system.

[this note is for "money never sleeps" (made 20 years later) , which I gave 2.5 stars, but the library seems to have clumped together with the original.] Nowhere near as good as the first movie: the characters and their relationships are…

A very 1980's style movie, that takes an excoriating take on big finance and its cancerous effect on American companies and workers; the deception and arrogance are frightening (and unsustainable) - and it seems it has only got worse (in…

There are two Oliver Stone movies where I don't picture Stone sweating and shaking and stuttering as he explains how aliens are invading McDonalds Happy Meals and eating our children. Both films are masterpieces.

The library computer search engine doesn't find this movie under author - Miles, Silvia. Wall Street has a role for Silvia Miles, she makes two short appearances in this film as the New York realtor who sells Charlie Sheen his fancy…

Solid with some perhaps inappropriate sentimentality. The commentary is well worth watching. In it, Oliver Stone informs us that the "free market capitalism" of the Reagan and Thatcher years seriously hurt the economies of countries in…

Oliver Stone at the height of his career. Incredible filmmaking career at the time.

Using skittish camerawork that taps into the nervous energy of New York’s stock exchange crowd both at work and at play, Stone fashions a hip Faustian melodrama in which Sheen’s exuberant youth is slowly corrupted by Douglas’…

Too much dialogue without getting to the point. Not worth watching. Michael Douglas always plays the same type of character and he is never very likeable.

Watched this movie again after seeing it on the big screen years ago. Loved the scene, when leaving prison, Gordon is handed his enormous mobile phone — I actually had one of those phones!! Pretty good movie, although a bit depressing,…

Bulls make money, bears make money, pigs get slaughtered" is an old Wall Street saying that warns investors against excessive greed. And history repeats itself over and over again....we live from one bubble burst to the next and hope to…

For those who are unfamiliar with Wall Street (i.e. including myself), this film can be difficult to follow and seem "very slow moving" as one previous reviewer stated. However, the morals and lessons learned in the end are obvious,…

A little trite...or dated, maybe: the bad guy's a little too bad, and there are some other non-surprising or non-believable plot elements. Still, well-paced and interesting to watch. What do you think: does the feds having the dope on the…

After watching why Gordon got sent to the prison country club in the first place, this movies is required "for the rest of the story"... However, the casting and script is third grade compared to the first movie. One thing both movies do…

The scariest part of the movie is Gordon Gecko is not just a fictional character! It is hardly a coincidence that Oliver Stone of all would pull out snippets from the real financial world to the that point alone across.

I never saw the original. This movie is uninteresting and started to put me to sleep.

Decent updating of the Gordon Gekko Story. Not nearly as good as the originial Wall Street but still quite entertaining. The Charlie Sheen caneo was hilarious.

I LOVED the bag of goodies Gekko gets back when leaving the prison. Money and greed go hand-in-hand in this return from Wall Street. Not bad.

I love current "technology" in older movies. The cell phone Douglas uses was as big as a loaf of bread. The computers the brokers used reminded me more of an Atari. DOS was the language of choice. Oh yeah, and the movie wasn't too bad…
