Quite a few comical characters in this Coen Brothers' film. Some even likable. One big bonus is the sound track - many memorable songs in there and all were well-performed. I have to say this is very enjoyable, easy cinema.

Sheer American poetry, the Joel and Ethan Coens’ 2000 comedy alludes to a dozen or more films, from "Bonnie and Clyde" to "The Wizard of Oz," and includes scenes and an overall structure specifically inspired by Homer’s "Odyssey," but it…

Was an insult to Homer's Second greatest piece in greek mythology I say second because in my opinion THE ILIAD was his master piece. Because there was and is so much more depth, detail, power, mythology, action, in the characters, lay…

This film is the subject of Chapter 3 - "Where Have All the Metanarratives Gone?: Lyotard, Postmodernism, and the Christian Story" in James K. A. Smith's excellent book, *Who's Afraid of Postmodernism?*

Excellent movie, my wife loved the humor. I liked the reference to Homers Odyssey
In the Odyssey by Homer, the main idea would be a life's journey that is filled with obstacles. I also liked the ending of the movie.

Oh Brother Where art Thou, the Coen Brothers did a magnificent job with having George Clooney, I have seen this Golden Globe and Academy Award winner several times, the music is great and Charles Durning , the best of his career yet, most…

VERY GOOD 2000 Coen Bros. film. I didn't really get drawn in on the Homer Odyssey references, but it was a fun mix of interesting developments as the main characters have whack adventures as they pursue their 'treasure'.
The country…

Great acting great music great adaptation of Homer's Odyssey. My only real criticism is the scene where the cow is struck and killed by the car. It was totally unnecessary for it to be portrayed so graphically.

I'm not a huge fan of George Clooney nor the Coen Brothers, but this movie was awesome! Clooney's "chicken dance" during the concert sequence was hysterical!
This movie is based on the epic poem called The Odyssey by Homer. The main character is named Ulysses and his wife name is Penny. Ulysses and his two friends escaped from prison. The fine is fine, but I really liked the movie…

A great movie all around, but make sure to watch the extras as this was the first digitalised film. Shot in June and July in a lush green setting they change the overall colour to imply the feeling of the depression era with browns and…

"Do. Not. Seek. The Trea-sure." unless the treasure you seek is this movie, of course. It is one of my favorite films by the Coen brothers. The music is perfect, the cast is great and there are many very funny lines. It was adapted from…

one of many favorite lines, had to be there to get: "r-u-n-n-o-f-t"
saw this during a too rare visit to out-of-town parents, a few years before dad passed. he'd grown up in the 30s, dirt poor, youngest of 4 boys who mostly raised…
