With the economy becoming more unequal all the time and with a grifter in the White House, American Fascists or as some call them, the American Taliban pose a very real threat to democracy. A must read for tolerant people everywhere.

An eye-opening account and interesting to read in today's environment (written in 2006) Probably considered unthinkable flights of fancy in 2006; yet, here we are. It helps to make sense of the fact, for instance, that Roy Moore…

I like and respect Chris Hedges, for awhile he existed as one of the few non-Fake News guys out there, but he had to resign the New York Times as he refused to write their Fake News [ergo, those still at the NY Times are Fake Newsies],…

Much more nuanced than similar themed works by Sam Harris and Christopher Hitchens. Wish Chris Hedges was more experienced in the details of financial hegemony...

Exceptional book by an exceptional author. Simply a MUST read by any truly concerned and truly Patriotic American!!! Somewhat dated, but only in sense that the situation with a fanatically fundamentalist Christian Right - even as it…

If half what Hedges says in this now 'dated' book is right, it is surprising that there has not been some sort of 'revolution' in the USA. It is polemical and extremely worrying even in the light of the current political shenanigans among…

Good introduction to, and warning about the growing power of the Christian Right in the US; its distressing that Hedges has become far more pessimistic about the outlook for the US middle class since writing this book in 2007

Wow, what a great book. It is a great examination of how self-delusional people can become when possessing a myopic view of themselves.
