🔪🧤 The script is weak on logic and exposition, but what are you watching it for? Suspense, murders, and bloody special effects, and that's what you get. It delivers what the title promises.
I absolutely adore this movie and I could definitely understand how it is considered a classic. However, there are some unnecessary scenes where the special effects can be considered silly, but I won't be too harsh with the movie considering it's old. Other than that, I definitely recommend.
This is a really good show!! It is creepy & exciting!!! Great Show!!!
Finally gave the horror classic a chance. I liked it and I can see why it's a classic and why Freddy Krueger has become a bit of an icon. A lot of horror tropes here and some good gore. My big complaint though, and this might just be me, is I thought it got kind of goofy in the final act. I couldn't help but compare it to Home Alone. But that last scene is still killer (heh heh) and I think it's a must watch for any horror fan.
Freaking scary-unbelievably terrifying almost as good as Blair Witch Project-the first one! Wes Craven delivers-not as great as PinHead(the character but close) Freddy Krueger is worth watching!Even the sequels are scary! Johnny Depp-though young in this is excellent as are the other stars and worth it!
Young Johnny Depp. Especially scary, couldn't watch the whole thing for years ie-girl in body bag dragged down school hallway. Enjoyed the acting, interesting plot-spawned a whole genre of excellent horror movies. Great acting, special effects wild!
This DVD is badly damaged. I can't even play this DVD. I think it's high time this got replaced.
Truly a Niche MAKER, in the Genre of Horror Films, and, brought back Robert Englund from almost TOTAL obscurity, after His coming to the fore, in the series, "V",! You will be MISSED, sorely, Wes Craven!
Stick with the original, if only to see Johnny Depp's fate in the first of the Freddy Krueger series. It's not possible to reminisce about growing up without singing "One two, Freddy's coming for you..." RIP Wes Craven.
The original Wes Craven film is still the best of the pack ( including the remake )- though some of the effects are dated it doesn't detract too much from this humorous scare fest.
Well, now - Here's a perfect bedtime story that's sure to slash & slice its way right into the darkest depths of your dreams once those R.E.M.s have accelerated into high gear.
With panic and fright as its prime motive, A Nightmare On Elm Street somehow still manages (30 years after its initial, 1984 release) to pack a considerable-sized wallop of honest-to-goodness terror regardless of being followed by numerous sequels and inevitable copy-catting.
Yes. This film's story may be somewhat far-fetched, to say the least. But, nonetheless, it still clearly remains an effective slice of twisted horror that has quite rightly earned for itself its status as a bona-fide cult classic.
Director Wes Craven certainly did create an enduring character when he gleefully introduced Freddy Krueger (with his charred, red face & scraping metal fingernails) to all the ravenous fans faithfully devoted to the art of brutal Slasher Cinema.
All-in-all - Here's a tale of terror that truly is a "Scream!".
this is the Original Film not the garbage reboot made recently
original actors & actresses:
Robert Englund, Johnny Depp, Heather Langenkamp, John Saxon
This is easily one of the best horror movies made, why they ruin classics with remakes I'll never understand. This is a must see for any horror fan. This movie is also Johnny Depp's big screen debut. I highly recommend this movie.
They had a chance to make something extremely frightening but completely missed the mark. Was a terrible remake. The original may be cheesy compared to newer horror films but it is by far better than this flick.
