This is not for young people! There was some very questionable and uncomfortable scenes in the book. However, the imagination that went into the story is amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed getting some back story on the wicked witch of the west.

Read this after reading Wicked. The differences in writing style was glaring. Although simply written, it was a great story. I enjoyed the contrast between the book and the movie I grew up with.

Thrilling first installment to a series. Like most books, slightly slow beginning. Worth reading and excited to read number 2.

Surprisingly disappointed in the last installment. I became a fast fan of CC and her shadow hunter world, however found myself struggling through the Dark Artifices. Sadly I believe this was my least favorite of all her books. I felt it didn’t have her usual flare and she became to caught up in the teenage love lives of her characters.Surprisingly disappointed in the last installment. Maas was exquisite in wrapping up the series. By far one of the best endings to a series. There was no lingering questions left. Found myself feeling many emotions throughout the book. By far the best book in the series.

Was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this enstalment even without the main character. While Chaol is not one of my favored characters, my fondness for him grew. Can’t wait for all the storylines to converge and see what awaits at the end!

Decent enough for being the 5th book of the series. Starts out kind of slow but picks up later in the book. I can understand the frustration of others with new character being introduced constantly, but hoping it all comes together at the end.

Overall, this was a good book. However, I did felt like some parts were unnecessary. The exciting parts were exactly that. Was a bit confused why the storyline continues, solely based on the fact that soooo much was wrapped up by the end of the book. This one has you on a rollercoaster of emotions! Love all the unexpected twist and turns. Of course you’re left with the biggest cliff hanger possible at the end. Bring on #3!!

Difficult subject matter written very elegantly. The author touches on some taboo topics but does so with such flare. This book had me on a rollercoaster of emotions that fueled my need to keep turning the pages. Highly recommend checking this book out.Difficult subject matter written very elegantly. Full of super interesting factoids! However, read like a text book with added fluff. Learned so much about trees and other plants when I wasn’t falling asleep. This book is not for the faint of heart.

Overall, was a decent read. I liked all the animal facts but found that the author wasn’t always clear in what she was stating. Also found that she would start talking about a different animal than the main subject of the chapter (specifically in the chapter about storks). Would have liked to learn more about current thoughts/theories on the animals.Overall, was a decent read.
