Add a CommentOne of the best books ever written. This is a fictional "autobiography" by Emperor Claudius giving a history of his twisted and ambitious imperial family. Probably the most interesting character is Claudius' wicked grandmother Livia Augusta. For those not overly familiar with the family and how they are related to each other, the novels include a Julio-Claudian family tree. This is a must read novel, as well as it's sequel Claudius the God.
A++ for I, Claudius a must read!!
Don't miss the sequel "Claudius the God". Both books were the inspiration for the 11-part Masterpiece Theatre adaptation on public television.
standing ovation!
